Gold Flower
About us
Almost a century of Colombian tea
Gold Flower is a brand with history, tradition and Colombian origin. Our roots go back to some of the first tea crops in the country, in Gachalá, Cundinamarca, where the natural conditions of the region allow a plant of unique characteristics to grow. More than a product, we represent the legacy of a family tradition that has worked for generations to keep the essence of Colombian tea alive.
Our story
1935
The first seeds
Landowner Carlos Piedrahita introduces tea seeds from China and begins growing them in the Río Murcas area of Gachalá — one of the first places where tea was cultivated in Colombia.
Mediados de siglo
Las Cascadas estate
Peter W. Rainier drives the crop forward, continued by Julio Ernesto Martínez Aguilera and his family, who consolidate production under brands such as Té Guavio, Elephant Tea and Gold Flower Tea.
2003
The rebirth
After years of economic, social and environmental challenges, descendants Ruby Romero and Julio Romero take up the crop again and restart green tea production under the Gold Flower brand.
Hoy
The legacy continues
Gold Flower keeps the Colombian tea tradition alive, with products that carry almost a century of history in every cup.
